. . . He introduced himself as Alan. From that point on, we were inseparable. We watched Starwars together for the first time, and then acted out the whole movie on the playground. We both found it impossible to correctly pronounce our teachers' names (Mrs. Lochier, and Mrs. McKiernan), and we both rode our Big Wheels in the wrong direction around the parking lot on Big Wheel Day. We were notorious for stealing graham crackers during snack time, and when I couldn't undo my belt buckle in time, Alan let me wear his pants, walking around in his Super Hero underwear until "Mrs. MaLochier" and "Mrs. McKermit" made him put his pants back on and gave me a towel until my mother could be reached. We were the closest of friends. And fifteen years later, we still are.
